Today our in our consumer driven society, we need to move along with the trends to reach the target audience that we are looking to reach. If our target demographic moves back to snail mail, then we will be sending our a bunch of direct mail marketing! You know it and I know it.

Trends in 2017 show Video Consumption has risen and it will only continue to rise currently more than 46% of visitors will watch a video before on a business website making a decision. This is a challenge and an opportunity for you. Some consider it a challenge because they know nothing about it, but studies show consumers don’t care, they enjoy the “realness” of a video shot with a smartphone, and businesses just being real people.

As always the big brands are slow to adopt and they are still spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on big video productions. This is where a small business can win, you can tell your story and connect with your customers in a way you never could before. a 3-minute video telling your story could be all it takes to get your customer to choose you over one of the big brands. You can show you are real, you are just a guy or gal with a great produce and a passion for what you do. You don’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend on epic video Hollywood quality production.

I am not saying you should have bad videos, but your customers will not care about your learning curve, as you do it more you will get better, but it shows that you are real.

If you want to make a lot of money in your business, quit focusing on making a lot of money! Focus on connecting with your customers and finding out their needs. If there is a problem, there is an opportunity to solve that problem. So if you customer is complaining about something and you are able to provide a solution, you have a customer for life, barring you doing anything incredibly stupid.

If your company does not have a youtube channel, you should go get one, but you will need to use it, learn how to upload your videos or hire someone to teach you how to do it. Either way, you are already behind if you don’t have one. Google loves Google, and do you know who owns YouTube? Google. Video is big on social media, and your customers are big into social media, you should be too. In the old days you had a shop at the mall because that was where you could find the customer, they had the foot traffic, and people who were shopping at their favorite brands would walk past your place an see your products then decide to buy them as well. Now the traffic had changed a bit, there is more of the online traffic and places like Facebook and YouTube are the new mall, you need to go where you can reach your customer.

You have heard me talk about mobile before, Mobile devices is another way to reach your customer, and reading on the smaller devices is tough on the eyes. Video consumption on Mobile devices is even higher than desktop devices, it is over 50%, this is something if you are not taking advantage of you are loosing out.

Why use video on your site?

Your Google Site Ranking, one factor that google uses to rank your site is what is called “Dwell Time” this is how long someone spends on your site, and if they are watching a one or two minute video on your site then that is one or two minutes that they dwell on your site. People tend to recall video content longer than written content, and video content has a higher engagement & sharing ranking. Remember make it easier for users to share your content and get your message our there to their friends.

Show off your brand personality, with video you get a chance to put a face to the name so to speak. You can give your brand a personality and become real, people who see your video content can identify with you and see your passion for your product or service. Engaging your customers in a personal way and remember that most purchases are an emotional experience.

90% of consumers report that watching a video about a product or service helps them make a decision to buy and 65% of business men and women will visit the business website after watching a video about a product or service, this leads to higher conversion rates, and more targeted traffic to your company site. Real estate listings that have video content are over 400% more likely to be clicked on and inquired about.

Video gives you a chance to tell your story, explain what makes you better than your competitors or what makes you stand out in your market. Video allows you to connect with your customers in a way that writing can’t engaging with your customers on a more personal level allows you to build that rapport with visitors and convert them to customers.

At this point less than 50% of businesses are using video as part of their marketing campaigns, so you can still be in the front of the curve if you act now.
